Calling all Yelp members! The Recess Room is one of the hidden gems of Huntington Beach and they will be closing soon. If you haven't tried this place, I suggest you do it now. The staff here treats you with the utmost respect and the food they dish out is comparable to some of the best tapas / small dishes restaurants out there. It seemed weird that we were seated right away and almost all the tables were empty tonight. So I asked the server why the empty seats? That's when he told me that the owner have sold the establishment and that they're on their last leg. We ordered the jumbo tiger shrimp cocktail, beet salad, salmon almandine, steak frites and chicken liver toast. Everything came quick and everything was delicious - if I had to nitpick, my steak tasted a tad over cooked; just a difference between medium rare and medium. But the fries the steak comes with makes up for it. All in all, dinner cost just a dollar under $100 which is a great deal considering the variety and amount of food we got. If you've always been on the fence about trying The Recess Room, do it now or you'll forever regret it. Best of luck and can't wait to see what will replace this place!

We had dinner here last night. The vibe was cool with wood on the ceilings and industrial lights throughout. Katie was our server and she greeted us with a smile. She gave us time to look over the menu prior to ordering which was nice since we were busy talking to one another and didn't know what drinks to start with. My friend and I ordered the Reconstructed destination which had a nice flavor and was not overly sweet. My husband enjoyed the RR old Fashioned. For appetizers we started with the Thai curried mussels and Gambas Al Ajillo (tiger shrimp) the flavor was delicious with both. We ordered a side of rote bread to dip in the sauce and it arrived hot and doughy which was delish! For dinner we ordered the shrimp garlic noodles, steak frites and salmon almondine. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the almond gave it a nice crunch. Garlic noodles are always a win, and the steak was juicy and delicious! They were out of the fluffier butter so we opted for the cereal crème brûlée which was yummy but super sweet. Management rocks and we always have a great time here!!!
